You know we love a destination wedding, but they aren’t always an option, so we are continuing our series on bringing destination weddings to you! This week we are sharing tips on creating your own ‘Ireland inspired I-dos’.
Lush fields, a full pint, and the lilting refrain of a fiddle. There are few things more enchanting than the Irish countryside. But you don’t have to cross the Atlantic to host a wedding full of Irish charm and tradition. With a few Irish inspired elements, your guests will feel like they’ve landed on the Emerald Isle.
For a romantic, moody vibe, opt for deep greens and dark wood decor accented with ivory and gold. Consider a lace gown and vintage-style accessories. Celtic knot hair clips and intricate, braided hairstyles suit the theme.
During the ceremony, perform the Irish tradition of hand fasting in which bride and groom literally tie the knot as their joined hands are wrapped with a piece of fabric or rope. You could also incorporate the work of an Irish poet or one of many well-known Irish blessings in your vows or as a reading by family and friends.
After the ceremony, though, it’s all about the “craic” (fun)! Hire a troop of traditional musicians or Irish dancers to entertain during cocktail hour. And to help make guests merry, serve Guinness, Magners, and Jameson of course!
Slainte! (Cheers)
