March 2023 | Destination Wedding in Scotland
“A classic fairytale in a Scottish Castle”
As a wedding planner herself, Sara’s vision for the wedding was to keep the guest list as intimate as possible for an overseas celebration in Scotland. Since Sara + Josh met in 2012 the running joke was that they wanted to elope to Scotland and live in a castle so the dream became reality when the engagement happened in late 2022. A whirlwind planning process of only three months led to this beautiful wedding taking place at Drumtochty Castle in the hills of Aberdeen, Scotland in March 2023.
Josh’s family has always been in love with Scotland and their wish to share that with Sara’s family became a reality!! The group started the trip in Edinburgh sightseeing and moved up to Drumtochty Castle for a three night stay to enjoy not only the wedding itself but the rehearsal dinner the night before.
Wanting to keep the design as simple and classic as possible, Sara opted for a strapless mikado ballgown by Trish Peng from Grace + White Bridal. This paired with Josh’s black tux and the black tie affair meant all 12 (yes, only 12!!) guests were also adorned in floor length gowns and black tuxes. The ceremony was held outdoors in a small courtyard against a white door tucked into the mountain and there was not a dry eye in sight. A traditional bagpiper led the wedding to cocktail hour in the gold room inside the castle, followed by dinner in the ballroom. One long table with white roses, a beautiful textured linen and floral menus from Shimmer + Stain set the tone for the magical night ahead.
